MiriAD 2000 Module Datalogging Facility

To assist the local recording (data-logging) of variables over time in the MiriAD 2000 units, 4Mbit (512kbyte, 256kword) of internal Flash RAM memory is installed in each unit. This will allow the later retrieval of that data for analysis. A separate user interface is provided in the MiriMap2000+ software package to assist in the set-up of such data-logging. Each recorded event that is written to the data-log memory will have a time and date stamp associated with that record. In the majority of cases the variables that are to be logged would be the analogue channels Analogue Input 1-8, however any internally declared variable in the station can be logged.

The data can be retrieved via any connected communications path that has been configured for the Miri AD200 unit, e.g. wireless, PSTN or GSM. The data can also be retrieved via store and forward paths on wireless links when using the Miri2000 protocol.

Once retrieved the data-logged information can be exported to CSV (Comma Separated Variable) format or direct to an Excel spreadsheet.

There is also an in-built charting utility to enable immediate diagnosis of logged data.

MiriMap 2000+ also has an in-built datalog upload (data retrieval) scheduler to allow the automatic, scheduled datalog upload from remote MiriAD 2000 units. This requires the MiriMap2000+ software package to be running and connected to a MiriAD 2000 unit with a spare port configured for Interface RS232, No Poll, Miri2000, 38.4 k Baud that has full access to the desired network.

The upload scheduler can be used to periodically access the network and upload the last datalogged records from each remote unit. There is also a facility to run scheduled events that can be used to run batch files on the PC that Mirimap 2000+ is running on to, for example, copy or archive the datalog files, compress the files using external compression software. It is even possible to email files automatically from a scheduled event/batch file (via external tools available from Microsoft for use with Windows NT Schedule service or DOS batch files - consult Miri for further details on this). The uploaded data can be saved as CSV (comma separated variable) file format directly from the scheduler.
